Jazz in the City November 2012



Panjim opened up the season with some great international jazz in the heart of the city, at the beautiful Garcia de Orta Municipal Gardens, near the panjim church, when jazz came into the public domain, with the Pommel Horse band from Switzerland. Conceptualized in a way to bring out the musicality of the city on to the public places of this beautiful city, the event brought people of all walks of life together, in the relaxed atmosphere of the gardens much to the delight of local as well as international jazz aficionados. 

The Lukas Roos led band belted out contemporary jazz that trilled the audience, with teenagers too commenting that this is the jazz they looked forward to. Nihal Gonsalves, son of Armando Gonsalves, CEO Heritage jazz was enthusiastic as he commented that he loved the sounds and the style of the band that  played only original numbers from their various albums. CCP Commissioner Sanjit Rodrigues was present at the corporation suopprted event which is the harbinger of great musical events to come. There was great co operation and support from various Heritage lovers since Jack Sukhija of the famous Panjim Inn hotel supported the cause by being hospitality sponsors and valmiki Naik of Cafe Bodega and Maracus Restaurant in porvorim adding up to make the Pommel Horse tour a truly grand one.

With Heritage Jazz having opened up the season with such a beautiful jazz night right in the heart of the capital city of panjim, you can be rest assured that the year is going to be one with many cultural and musical highs.
